Glossop Arts Project

Autumn /Winter Happy Birthday to us!! 5 years old!!

Arts for Wellbeing started running sessions in October 2014 initially just on the Monday afternoon and Friday morning. We continue to provide interesting and stimulating sessions, we have doubled in size now offering four sessions a week now to people with long term mental and physical health conditions between the ages of 16 and 80 years old

We are having a party for invited guests – this will be a celebration and an opportunity for us to raise some funds to secure our future. We will have a raffle and will be running a bar at our party, which will be held at Victoria Hall – our new home!! Yes, we will be paying a license fee to use an office at the old library building. This news is fantastic, we will have a base for meetings, storage space for equipment and resources and will be involved in the long-term plans for the Grade 2 listed building. The plans for Victoria Hall in the long term will see it transformed into a community Arts venue.

For the first time, this year we ran a ‘summer school’ our amazing volunteer Marie held two 3-hour workshops at Victoria Hall and produced a stunning wall hanging. We were visited by The High Sherriff of Derbyshire Lord William Burlington, son of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. He visited us because he wanted to see our group as he has invited GAP to sell handmade items in the gift shop at Chatsworth House. Lord Burlington is heavily involved in Foundation Derbyshire a charity supporting voluntary groups like us! See pic below.

We are always looking for funding – if you have any ideas or can help with our upcoming party please let us know!
