News update, Sept 2014

Thank you to all those who attended our taster sessions for completing the feedback form! We received 100% positive comments and some very encouraging remarks. We are very pleased that you enjoyed the sessions as much as we did.

Over the summer, we have been busy putting together our autumn timetable. We are excited to announce that GAP will soon start regular twice-weekly sessions:

Arts for Wellbeing sessions
Where:           Adult Community Education Centre, Talbot Street, Glossop, SK13 7DG
When:            Mondays 1-3pm and Fridays 10-12pm
Starting:         Monday 3rd November

Until December, these sessions will focus on seasonal art. Clare, our resident artist, will guide you through making Christmas cards, decorations and bunting, up-cycling of picture frames, and designing arty calendars for 2015, which could make great gifts. The sessions will be free of charge and light refreshments will be provided. For a small charge, lunch will also be available following the Friday session. To book your place, simply email info@glossopartsproject.org or contact Sonja on 07855 320179.

We are also very excited to be collaborating with Carrot Productions, a Glossop-based music company, in a production of “The Snowman” in Chester Cathedral at the end of November (www.carrotproductions.com). Carrot Productions have asked GAP to make snowman-themed Christmas decorations to be displayed in Chester Cathedral over the Christmas period. We will be making these baubles during our November sessions, so book your place now to be involved with this exciting project and have your work displayed in Chester Cathedral.

Art and Craft Workshops

GAP are also looking to provide art and craft workshops on Fridays, 1-3pm at the Glossop Adult Community Education Centre from Friday 7th November. These workshops will be run by Clare and invited local artists, and will include felt-making, ceramics and clay modelling. To cover the cost of these sessions and the time of visiting artists, a charge will be made for these workshops, which will include lunch. Further information and timetable of workshops will be available shortly.

The GAP website (www.glossopartsproject.org) is updated regularly with news and forthcoming events, so keep checking for the most up-to-date information.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
